Call to Artists -The Historic Sanford Welcome Center invites you to participate in an evening of fine arts including an art exhibit, music, wine and hors d’oeuvres.
You may submit your art for consideration in the planned exhibits as scheduled. All events are at the Welcome Center in downtown Sanford from 6:00-9:00p.m. Only 2 dimensional work is accepted. Art work may be sold through the Welcome Center with a 10% commission going to the Welcome Center.
2008-2009 Schedule of Events

“Images of Florida” October 24, 2008 (deadline for entry September 24, 2008)
Featuring art work in all media that reflects the essence of Florida. Share
your interpretation and appreciation of this place we call home.

“Flora and Fauna” January 23, 2009 (deadline for entry December 28, 2008)Does it come from a seed, a bulb or is it airborne? Does it have two or more
legs, scales, fur and a tail? Plants and animals are a favorite subject for art
enthusiasts. All media are encouraged.

“Through the Lens” February 27, 2009 (deadline for entry January 30, 2009)Share what you have captured through the camera lens including the use of
traditional film or digital processes. Photography is art!

“Collage and Assemblage” March 27, 2009 (deadline for entry March 2, 2009)Tell a story, create a metaphor, make a statement or expound color and
composition through the versatility of collage and assemblage. Work must be
able to be hung.

“Strictly Graphics” April 24, 2009(deadline for entry March 30, 2009) A wide
range of media will be accepted including pencil, etching, silk screen, relief
printing, computer, and lithography. Signed edition or one of a kind is
appropriate.

“It’s All About People” May 22, 2009 (deadline for entry April 27, 2009)Whether it is a portrait or a crowd, posed or candid, people in art is what we
are seeking. (No nudes please - No, we’re not prudes, just cautious.
The Historic Sanford Welcome Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the arts, culture,
recreation and history of Sanford, and to serve as a communications hub for the residents and visitors.
